FC
Fault Counter

Overview

Use SEL fault counters (FCs) as troubleshooting devices on overhead lines. FCs identify the location of recurrent faults caused by defective insulators, tree branches, worn sections of line, etc. The device, which indicates with a reflective red pointer set in a clock-style face, counts up to ten faults. Manually resetting the FC with a magnet tool (the FCRT) returns the pointer to the “zero” position.

Features
  • Line-powered: no batteries necessary
  • Quickly installs with a single hotstick
  • Maintains its fault count until manually reset using the SEL FCRT tool (sold separately)
  • Will not falsely trip during recloser operations
  • UV-stabilized materials provide excellent weatherability
  • Compact, lightweight design makes storing and stocking FCs simple and economical

FCRT Faut Counter Reset ToolReset the Fault Counter with a hot-stick-held flashlight tool (sold separately).
