Split-Core Current Transformers
| Overview |
SEL split-core current transformers eliminate the need to open the primary conductor during installation over bushings or cable. Made from M7 silicon steel formed into a hexagonal or rectangular configuration, the CTs easily open to the nominal window diameter. EOS Manufacturing's hexagonal cores fit nominal window diameters of 4.5, 6.0, and 8.0 inches. Rectangular configuration is appropriate for nominal window diameters of 3.5 inches.
The transformer secondary is layer-wound, and the core and secondary assembly are encapsulated in flexible vinyl that provides 600 V class insulation. Their secondary terminals are nickel-plated brass screws with nuts and washers. It is important to ground one secondary lead. Do not use current transformers with open secondary terminals.
