    • Stainless steel hardware
Applications Apply SEL BEACON® field-programmable timed reset fault indicators on overhead cables to lead line crews directly to the location of a fault. Because the BTRIP is field programmable, line crews can easily set its trip value using a small tool, the CRSRTT. Its field-programmable trip levels make the BTRIP an ideal fault indicator for applications with variable load conditions combined with low fault currents: simply change the indicator’s trip value because of load growth or a change in the available fault current. Because changing the BTRIP’s trip value is a quick, simple process, this is an ideal indicator to stock. It reduces the number of different indicators that a utility needs for system-wide applications: stocking indicators to use when system load increases is no longer necessary.

The BTRIP is available with trip values as low as 50 A, making it an excellent choice in rural applications.

Indication

When a fault occurs, the indicator’s red LEDs begin to flash. It senses the ambient light level and selects the appropriate flash pattern and intensity to optimize viewability while conserving battery life. In its nighttime mode, the BTRIP provides 360 degree viewability for more than 1,000 feet. It will stop flashing at the end of its factory-set timeout period. The BTRIP’s dual LED display is powered by a high-capacity lithium battery. SEL also offers a timed reset override option that causes the indicator to reset when system power returns to normal or at the end of the timeout period, whichever occurs first.
