1TPRB
Single-Phase Test Point Mounted Bolt Display FCI
Overview
Use SEL test point voltage reset fault indicators with remote tamperproof bold displays (1TPRB) on 200 and 600 A class underground distribution systems whose terminators have test points. The 1TPRB requires a 5 kV phase-to-ground minimum voltage to reset and remain ready to trip. Its remote bolt automatically resets when system voltage returns to normal. Check the indicator’s status by holding EOS Manufacturing’s small, compass-like tool against the bolt. Because it appears to be only another carriage bolt in the transformer cabinet, the 1TRB fault indicator's tamperproof bolt display does not attract vandalism.
With just three holes in the transformer cabinet wall, this display indicates from the outside of the cabinet, eliminating the need to open the cabinet door to check its status. The sensor’s conductive, easy-to-install EPDM rubber housing maintains the separable connector system’s ground shielding. The 1TPRB operates independently of load current.
The 1TPRB’s inrush restraint feature blocks tripping that might result from reclosing operations. When the breaker or recloser opens, the 1TPRB senses a loss of voltage on the test point. The indicator then blocks the display from targeting if the subsequent inrush current exceeds the trip value. It is ready to trip a few minutes after reenergization.

Applications
Install 1TPRB fault indicators in padmount transformers, subsurface load centers, or junction sectionalizing points. In single-phase underground loop applications, install the 1TPRB at the transformer. At sectionalizing junctions, place an indicator on each outgoing feed, just below the elbow pulling eye. SEL also offers the 1TPRB with an auxiliary contact feature. This model has the same compact, easy-to-use and apply package as the standard unit, but allows the utility to connect the fault indicator to a SCADA system. The latching contact closes when a fault occurs and remains closed until normal system voltage is restored for three to five minutes.

Installation
Use 1TPRB fault indicators at single-phase and padmount transformers, subsurface load centers, or junction sectionalizing points. To install the 1TPRB, simply remove the test point’s protective cap and replace it with the indicator. The 1TPRB comes with an adapter that allows the lineman to quickly modify the fault indicator to fit the major manufacturers’ various test point designs. Because of its mounting position on the terminator, concentric neutral training is not a consideration. The cable entrance portion of 600 A T-body connectors with test points is another ideal location for 1TPRB fault indicators. At junction sectionalizing points, the indicator’s junction shield prevents false tripping that might otherwise occur because of adjacent phases.
Removing the 1TPRB to access the test point for system testing is as simple a process as removing the 1TPRB, performing the test, and reinstalling the indicator.
1TPRB fault indicators come with internal adapter rings that accommodate most manufacturers’ elbow test points.
