| 1CRI fault indicators are typically applied on underground systems in padmounted enclosures. Installing devices at each sectionalizing location helps the linemen quickly locate the faulted cable section. Large industrial customers will also benefit from installing 1CRI fault indicators on their low-voltage secondary lines. The integral split-core current transformer clamp makes the E-1CRI easy to install under the elbow terminator or other separable connector. The standard 1CRI model requires a 3 A minimum continuous load current. The indicator’s 1 ms trip response time allows it to coordinate easily with current-limiting fuses. The optional inrush restraint feature blocks the indicator from targeting because of recloser operations. When the protection operates, the indicator senses the loss of current flow and prohibits trip targeting until normal load current is restored.
SEL also offers an auxiliary contact option that provides a latching contact closure when a fault occurs. This contact allows 1CRI fault indicators to connect to SCADA systems, a feature that is becoming increasingly valuable as SCADA systems expand. |
